At its inception, NAFAS, known as the National Farmers’ Association, was registered under the Farmers’ Association Act 1967 and acted as the apex body for farmers’ associations throughout the country. …As time passed and to enable farmers’ movements to progress, farmers’ associations and basic agricultural cooperative companies throughout Malaysia were amalgamated and became Area Farmers’ Organizations, registered under the Farmers’ Organization Act 1973.
